Fundamental Duties and why don’t we perform Fundamental Duties?

Constitutional Amendment Act, of 2002, one more fundamental duty was added.

Today there are 11 fundamental duties which are:

(a) Obey the Constitution and respect the National Flag and Anthem

(b) Treasure and uphold the noble ideals that inspired our nation’s struggle for liberty.

(c) Uphold and protect India’s sovereignty, unity, and integrity.

(d) Defend the country and serve the country as needed.

(e) Foster harmony and the spirit of brotherhood.

(f) Value and protect our diverse culture’s rich heritage.

(g) Preserve and enhance the natural environment.

(h) Foster a scientific temperament, humanism, and a spirit of inquiry.

(i) Protect public property and avoid violence

(i) Strive for excellence in all areas.

(k) Make educational opportunities available to his child/ward between the ages of 6 and 14.

In India, these fundamental rights are explicit, which means they can not be enforceable. This is the reason behind their disobedience. If the government does not impose strict penalties for their violations, their ignorance may persist in the people and society.

The reason for this ignorance is our government’s failure to enforce strict rules for failing to perform basic duties. Also, one must-do thing is to award the person who is doing his/her duty without any disrespect or delay. The government should maintain a record of those who are not following the fundamental duties in a regular manner and, after trial by the judiciary, be given appropriate punishment or a huge fine. Also, it is the responsibility of society to inherit a feeling of patriotism towards the country and its well-being.

When someone has patriotic feelings in his heart towards his/her country, then he or she will never be disobedient towards the duties of the nation, especially the fundamental duties. It is the responsibility of schools and teachers to teach about the fundamental duties to their students at a very early age of life so that they will understand the need to perform their fundamental duties and become honest, respectful, patriots and proud Indians. and contribute towards the present and future of India and its upcoming generations.

Of all the 11 fundamental duties, the government should create a separate benefit explanation awareness program or chart and have it spread among all the citizens of India so that they can easily be convinced to follow the fundamental duties without any strict rules. This is the reason behind any developed country’s being developed: their citizens perform their duties like respecting the country’s rules and constitution, paying taxes, and maintaining integrity and honesty among the people and society.

To change this position of fundamental duties, the Government needs to make some changes given below.

a. Every person who wants fundamental rights must follow fundamental duties.

b. Strict laws enforcing fundamental duties.

c. Regular updation of the duties required according to the need of society and religions.

d. Encourage people to be disciplined and committed.

Every citizen is required to perform fundamental duties. Fundamental duty fulfillment creates a self-respecting feeling among the people as aware and mature citizens of the country.
